Volunteer

since raft opened in 2009, volunteers have donated over 300,000 hours of their time, supporting education AND the environment!

Each year, hundreds of volunteers save teachers thousands of hours of time by pre-sorting donated raftGoods and assembling Raft’s signature products that reach over 250,000 students annually.

volunteers play a critical role in helping Raft carry out our goal of facilitating hands-on learning for kids by empowering those who make it happen.

Whether you are interested in a one-time experience or something more regular, we have a variety of opportunities available for large and small groups, as well as individuals.

types of volunteer opportunities

group volunteers

Volunteering as a group with Raft is not only a great team-building opportunity, but it’s also loads of fun! Group volunteers provide essential support for Raft’s operations while supporting education and the environment.

we have multiple options to accommodate the various needs of group volunteers:

activity kit build opportunities

For Raft sponsors only, we welcome groups of 10 to 30 people for a 2 to 3-hour experience at our Resource Center to help us build the hands-on learning activity kits that we are known for! We are also able to bring the Raft Volunteer Experience to you if you have the space for it! We will work with your team to develop a customized experience on-site at your place of work or elsewhere – we’ll bring all of the materials for building raftKits, and you bring the volunteers!

Raft’s sponsorships start at $1,000 and increase based on the size of the volunteer group and the duration of the customized experience. Each $1,000 sponsorship yields 100 pre-assembled raftKits, which ultimately will impact 1,000 kids!

small groups

We welcome groups of up to 10 people at our Resource Center for a 2 to 3-hour experience to help with everything from unloading, sorting, bagging, and stocking donated materials, to assembling raftKits and raftUnits, to restocking and cleaning the Resource Center, and helping with other special projects.
